Afternoon everyone, hope all well. Got a Bond with Charter Savings maturing early January and at the moment it looks as though they're not offering anymore at the moment. So, googled best 1 year Bond, Martin Lewis says Firstsave currently offering 1% for 1 year. Not great but the best I can find at the moment. Anyone had any experience? Always a bit daunting using a bank I've never heard of, but covered by FSCS, so thought I'd ask.

Many thanks, Simon,

"FirstSave is part of First Bank of Nigeria plc – one of Nigeria's largest banks and with headquarters in Lagos."

I wouldn't.

Why not - it's FSCS protected?

Because if it goes tits-up,
  • It will be a l-o-n-g time before you get your money back, although you should get it eventually.
  • It's only your capital that's guaranteed, not the interest on it.

I mean this kindly but unless it's a huge amount interest rates are just so st it's hardly worth it frown

I'm still getting .75% via Shawbrook. It's not much but it's protected, interest is paid monthly and the website's simple to use.
