I've had an email from 212 as follows

'Due to extreme market conditions, on Tuesday, the 1st of December, at 14:30 GMT, we will temporarily raise the margin requirements for all CFDs* on stocks to 50%.'

This won't affect me but I was wondering what the extreme market conditions will be?

212 already messed this up, they announced they were to raise it last week on a 24 hour notice but this went down like a sick sandwich according to their forum. They've now switched it to next week to give people more time to manage they risk.

Thinking back they changed margin ammounts before during elections etc.

As someone that exports to the EU and sells across various EU marketplaces, it would good to know sooner, rather than later how we’re going to trade with the EU from 1st Jan.

I’ve started VAT registrations in each country, but if we’re on WTO rules, there is going to be more red tape we need to prepare for.

They’re going to have to announce it soon.
