I have recently been watching Unforgotten on Netflix with Nicola Walker. In series 3 there is a dodgy salesman of financial products who reminds me very strongly of our Nigel.

He was, I think, a money or precious metals broker in a previous life?

You can't argue with the marketing - find the common enemy, mention poor returns/high charges with existing investments, give access to "experts" - financial illiterates will no doubt lap this up.

Just watching the final video - one of the "experts" had an internship at an investment bank

I've not looked at any of the links but my assumption was that he is just the rented mouth to suck in the remaining Daily Mail readers who haven't been rinsed by previous great investments punted to mugs via tabloids. It didn't cross my mind that he'd be allowed anywhere near the decision making process?

If they've got any sense they'll just offer a credible, unexciting bit solid portfolio and let Nige bring in the money.

I can however, see problems creating the Tommy Robinson Index of English companies that only employ English people.

Probably, but if Farage said good morning to me, I'd assume it had gone 12. I would steer well clear of any organisation he was associated with.
