An exit from a long term job, together with equity from a BTL sale has left me with c £120k to invest and given there are some great threads on here about such topics I'd welcome some thoughts. I'd like to have the option to access the funds fairly easily if the latest venture doesn't fly and I need some living cash, though I'll be holding around 6 months living cash separately. I also would like the option of accessing whatever the £120k has turned into in around 4 to 5 years as I'm on a part interest only mortgage and may want to pay some down, or at that point switch from the main career to do more in property.

I've been fairly conservative to date, and on reflection have missed out on some opportunities so I don't want to reflect back in 5 years to think about what I should have done, though I know there are no guarantees !

Options I'm thinking about :

- c£30k to £40k in low maintenance global tracker, I have seen fundsmith and vanguard mentioned on here elsewhere
- I'm tempted by a fund looking at smaller UK companies (maybe £10k), probably higher risk than global, but I don't think the UK market is as potentially inflated as for example US, though accept there is less tech exposure
- Tech funds, I've made the mistake so many times of thinking the valuations are too high, and given history has proven me wrong, I'm open to such funds..

For part of the remainder.....
- I've been looking at some funds that specialise in tech and in particular companies offering cloud solutions, which feels like it's still at it's infancy
- I'm thinking about the potentially obvious Scottish mortgage fund, I note it offers around 10% exposure to Tesla, which I've too often thought I've missed the boat on and of course has a strong track record (The fund that is)
- Some of the other Bailie Gifford funds seem to research well and have strong track records
- Possibly a bash at some premium bonds - not sophisticated, but no risk bar the opportunity loss and you never know...

Or.......
- I'm thinking go completely different to this and see what I can land in terms of a cash house purchase to renovate, sell, repeat. If I had more time on hands, I'd do this, but I'm probably 4 to 5 years away from enough time to dedicate to this...at present it feels to speculative and isn't passive by any means.

If it helps to steer any ideas, I'm sorted for pension, but do have 3 kids below 18 that may have some investment allowances (need to do some research on this). I don't have any current ISAs....

Or finally, given this is pistonheads, blow half of this into a 612 Scaglietti or one of the rarer 911's....to enjoy and hope it's worth at least what it cost in 5 years time.
