TRACING LOST SHARES

Good Afternoon

Our extended family and a few relatives hold shares in the following companies:

Equiniti

Halifax

Halifax Investment Services

Santander

Scottish Hydro Electric

SSE

National Grid

Equiniti Iberdrola

BT

Centrica



However, due to some personal issues (and leaving things for someone else to do), a few (if not all) of all the paperwork has either been mislaid or lost.

Can anyone kindly suggest tthe best way to track paperwork for these shares?

You need to contact the share registrar for each company & go through the lost certificate procedure - they all have one. For instance Link Asset Services are the Registrar for SSE:

You'll need each persons name & if you have any investor numbers it will help. You will also have to pay a countersignature fee which is a form of insurance against you not being the rigtful owner of the shares. This fee can exceeed the value of the shares if you only have a few.

Good luck. I lost two share certificates & the procedure was so time consuming I never bother to go through with it.
