Company Has My New Payment Details Already!

My Santander Visa debit card expires end of Feb. Santander have just sent me the new card which now happens to be a Mastercard Debit card.

The new card has sat in its envelope and not been used whatsoever for any transactions. I have not updated any websites with the new card details, no reason to yet.

Logged in to my Microsoft account today & the card details they have on file are for the new card. I did not update them! How does that work? First time this has happened. . .


Is this a new automatic updating process? If so would be courteous to receive an email from Microsoft to let me know that I do not need to update my payment details as they already have them!!

I assume i have to immediately file this under First World Problems . . .
