"Neil Woodford has broken his silence on the collapse of his investment firm and revealed he plans to start all over again in a tearful and defiant interview.

Speaking publicly for the first time since his business imploded in October 2019, exclusively to The Telegraph, the fund manager said he was “very sorry for what I did wrong”. But he lashed out at the administrator of Woodford Investment Management, Link Fund Solutions, and rejected widespread criticisms of his operating style."

Just saw thst but couldn't read through the pay wall.
I did OK with his invesco perpetual fund but both my sons jisa and my isa were part invested in the collapsed fund he ran. Would I trust him again? Think I'd rather not thank you. Not while I can get surefire info from the lse board

I've never seen them in the same room together so you could be on to something.

Exactly. It's a bit like Gary Glitter starting up a day nursery. You just wouldn't..

But what would be interesting is to see where his fund would be today had it not been suspended and sold. Has anyone done the maths?

Surely proof that it was all just luck in a rising market. I mean imagine his fund time had run through the drop last year?

Don't. That put me off funds for years.

"Whatever he chooses to back next, there is one crucial detail in Woodford’s comeback plan that will inevitably infuriate former investors. Since last summer he has been advising American-based Acacia Research, which last year made huge profits buying bargain Woodford stocks and rapidly selling them on."

Can't see the the problem with that at all. I wonder what his fee was.

My missus nagged me to put some of our cash into safe funds, he was the star at the time.

Luckily managed to get out before we lost too much.

I remind her now and again :-)

Curious to hear the fund was deemed a safe fund? Iirc, the WF Equity fund had a risk rating 5 of 7 which is on the opposite end of the safe scale!

I’d be astonished if he has resolved his issues with the fca by now and even more astonished if they authorise him pending the completion of their investigation. I would expect him to be prohibited in due course.

Maybe just wishful thinking

Thousands of investors made tidy returns with him before he changed his investment style.

I did very well with him for 15 years whilst he did what he said he was doing. He didnt make it sufficiently clear that the new Woodford fund was going to be run differently to the Invesco Perpetual funds. I lost a bit in Woodford but I would consider investing with him again but would look a bit more closely at what he was investing in.

Yes - AND THEN HE CHANGED HIS STYLE! Are you saying he’s now going to go back to the original style?

His good years were just a ship on a rising tide. He’s nothing special and never will be in the future.

His good years were just the opposite of this - he was one of the few fund managers who kept faith with established dividend paying companies at the time of the Dotcom boom and came through the inevitable crash unscathed. Strange really that he abandoned his well earned reputation for exactly the risky speculative stocks that he avoided so successfully in his previous employ.
