What type of mortgage do I need?
Discussion
I’m not quite sure where to start my research...
I have a mortgaged main residence. I’m looking for a business premises and have seen a couple of places for sale which are commercial ground floor with flat above.
If I wanted to occupy the ground floor commercial unit and let out the apartment, what is the product I’m looking for?
I assume that “the business” renting the ground floor from “me” further complicates the issue?
Any advice appreciated

I think each property will be different - for example the flat and shop may have separate deeds And will need to be treated as separate entities. If this is the case then I would advise a commercial loan for the ground floor - make it tax efficient and put it in a S I P - then a buy to let mortgage for the flat. Much easier to buy with cash, get the deal done and deal with this later if you are in a position to. I’m not a financial advisor but I have properties and this is what I have done. Hope this helps
