My dad died a few years ago (3), but when he passed he had dementia so could pass on important info.

Had no will, and literally enough money in the bank to cover his funeral .

However he did dabble in equities years ago....and recently had a voting form come through for a company called Paion...and whilst I'm going to contact them to find out his holding

It got me thinking, is there a simple process to search for other shares he might hold?

Public listed companies (i.e. on stock exchange) usually have a Registrar who runs their register of shareholders.

There' a limited number of big Registrars each of which looks after a lot of companies.

Your best bet is to contact those registrars giving full details of the deceased's name and address and any former addresses. You'll need to demonstrate you have authority to ask the questions.

Look at, for instance, Equiniti and the list of companies they represent,
