Credit Cards: No balance transfer offers available

I just finished paying down my Barclaycard because I wanted to use the credit for some balance transfers related to home improvements. All the time there was a balance on the card they were offering me 0% for about 18 months on balance transfers with a 2% transfer fee. Since I paid the card off to zero a couple of months ago all the balance transfer offers have disappeared. It's almost like they won't offer you any balance transfer deals unless you already have a balance on a card. Is this a thing with banks? I was thinking maybe making a purchase on the card may bring back the balance transfer offers?

I get offers on most of my cards, whether I use them or have a balance on them or not.

I suspect it is all down to the type of customer they think you are, based on spending patterns etc, so you may have just fallen of their radar.

I have had a couple of cards suggest a lower limit, but I just contact them and tell them I want to keep mine or even ask for an increase. Never been refused.
