Hi all,
Looking for some advise, I've sold my house recently and as part of that I took £20k out of the deposit for a new car, I originally had a Cayman S 981 and Leon FR TDI (Daily) we also have 2 large dogs, I sold the Porsche to free up funds and then sold the Leon and bought a SAAB 9-3 V6 estate for the dogs.
I have since realised I do very little miles and don't really need a upto 20k car at the moment, I also didn't know at the time but my mortgage offer included stamp duty money so I've also got an extra £10k so in total I have an excess £30k sat in my account. I've decided that the garden needs doing and that could be anywhere upto £10k (its quite a big job) and also decided I might fancy a new motorbike in the near future. But both them of them things look like they will be 2022.
So the £30k, is there anywhere I can safely place it to make it work for me, but I can also access it when I need it?
I have bank accounts with Barclays (premier), Metro and Starling. Barclays saving accounts pay very little at all.

One idea maybe to consider.
Put a grand (or amount you're comfortable with) into a global tracker or "something".
That way at least you know your maximum downside but if you really can't afford to risk any of it at all I'm still not seeing past Premium Bonds or just accept there's no return on cash if you want easy access.
