I was wondering if anyone can help.

I bought some tyres for my MTB bike from eBay. Given they were coming from Italy and slightly cheaper than I could find in the UK and postage was relatively high I ordered 4 tyres instead of 2 to absorb the costs.

Turns out eBay have charged me VAT "In line with UK Legislation"

However the seller has sent via DHL who now are telling me there are VAT and Duty fees to charge. So am I basically paying double VAT?

Thanks in advance to your thoughts smile

was the amount under £150 / £150 euro?

Ebay will collect the VAT for sales under this amount and the seller should not charge VAT. Ebay then pays the VAT to the very competent EU.

It sound like the seller has shipped with DHL but not included the eBay IOSS number which would tell them VAT has already been collected by Ebay, works the same with Amazon.

Problem is trying to sort this as no one knows their arse from their elbow. Contacting Ebay would be the best bet and say that VAT was collected by them, if its under 150EUR.

Thanks for your help.

Ive paid the Carrier fees hopefully I will get a breakdown of this and it will show the VAT has been paid. I will update the Seller to tell him to include the eBay IOSS number.

I was hoping to speak to DHL on the chat to tell them this, but they arent open until tomorrow.

Thank you again smile
