I have recently become unemployed, live alone and finding that I can sponge of the state the sum of £74.96 per week! OK they pay most of my council tax bill as well.

I am so looking forward to living the life of luxury while on state hand outs, but wondered what other single people lives are like on UC.

Although if your working I also wonder how much you spend.

My fuel bill has just gone up to £119 per month,
Internet, phones (landline and moby) and things like TV licence is £45
Water is £44 but need to get onto them and put a meter in.
petrol is about £20 a month tax £265 a year
Supermarket bill is around £55 although this week was more as i had t buy things like washing pounder

I just curious how much do you spend if your single regardless of whether your employedor not

In the current climate, you would surely have to be pretty determined to live the life of luxury you describe? So many vacancies.

You'll never make much being single and able bodied.
Get yourself a partner and a disability (even better a partner with a disability).
Have lots of kids, disabled ones of course. Disable them yourself if you have to but don't get caught.
Do this multiple times with different partners.
Steal a caravan and tipper truck.
Tarmac drives on the snide.
Buy a dag.

Yes and got turned down for several I have applied for

should be starting work next week, but PO lost my aplication for renewing my HGV, doctor has took three weeks to respond to my plees to pay her £100 to get another medical and the unemployment office have kindly sent me on a course to do my CPC, but the provider has not started me on it yet and before they do I haveto do a 35 hour customercare course and 35 hour well being course, but when?. Probably end up paying for that too

Exactly, just pretend you have a non provable illness such as depression or fibromyalgia. Put up lots of posts on Facebook with pictures along the lines of:

Become each others careers to get careers allowance
Swap one of your DLA payments for a brand new motability car.
When you are old enough for retirement, get a full pension even though you have never paid a penny in.
When you need to go into a care home it will all be free because you were not stupid enough to get up at 6:30AM and go to a job you hate for 45 years, work hard, save every penny and struggle to pay a mortgage.

OK, so in part a nice situation to start from but still tricky when income drops severely.

Wishing you the very best of luck for a brighter future.

Make sure you get the full Sky package, a 60” tv and the latest iPhone.

According to some on here, everyone who claims benefits has them.

Seriously though, good luck matey.

When i was unemployed scum, i used to raid the supermarket reduced section. Raid was the word as in scummy areas, you literally have people fighting over reduced goods especially in scum class.shops like tesco and asda. I gave up in the end as i thought it a bit desperate getting kicked and scratched just trying to get a.bargain. went to sainsburys instead where the customers were not savages and waited orderly and in turn to peruse the reduced items. Pretty much halfed my food bill that way.

Having read this thread so far, I'm even more pissed than usual that as a UK tax payer it's me and the rest of us that have to support people like the OP. Mortgage free, needing financial advice etc, what the Hell.

My hard hat is already on in anticipation of what happens next.

I don't understand the hatred directed at the OP. He was asking how people cope on the benefits he is now getting. He also said he is applying for jobs and that he'll fall back to jobs such as Amazon deliveries if he has to.

I don't think the OP needs to explain to us his financial circumstances anymore than he has. For what he's said he's a home owner, mortgage free so I'd deduce from that he's worked and paid his taxes and NI.

As a fellow worker and tax payer, also mortgage free I've personally no problems with this chap getting a pittance from me and other tax payers as that's what it's for. If I ever lost my job I'd have no qualms taking it until I get back into the rat race. As workers we'd get the bare minimum anyway unlike the career spongers.

I do have a problem though with those who make a career out working the benefits system but hey ho maybe they're the smart ones.
