8% today, I know they have some new solar roof tiles, but they seem to be printing money and cars!

I bet I can stop Tesla in their tracks - I'll buy some shares and they'll lose 30% in a week...

I could probably kill crypto stone dead too.

yup.. worth 50% of the ftse100... adding the size of BMW in just one day! Not bad going. I don't get it personally. Several friends have recently bought EV's, all were either Porsche or VW. I don't think the legacy manufacturers will just roll over. Tesla is priced for perfection, and the rest.

In ten years time many evs will be seen as a massive bubble just like 90% of the dot com companies. few will make it likely Tesla will imo but itll just slowing downtrend from what ever peak it is yet to hit.

A fleet of breakdown trucks selling emergency batteries at £1,000 a pop?

Good point but i went for the lithium miners. A chunk into the inrg etf and a punt on blnk for a short term buy hold and sell.

Yesterday Musk tweeted that the Hertz deal isn't signed off, also the deal has no effect at all on Tesla profits as they have more orders than they can fill anyway.
Sometimes I wish I'd kept my Tesla shares but being able to sleep at night is more important.

With the benefit of hindsight I'm kicking myself - like everyone else!

I try to invest in things I believe in and something about Tesla doesn't sit right with me. It seems like a house of cards built by Musk, I keep waiting for it to come crashing down. I also dont understand why someone like BMW hasn't wiped the floor with them - they could certainly build a "better" car.

It's strange but that and Crypto seem to just be built on perception rather than tangibles.

I went in at $18 but sold half my holding when they’d initially doubled in price - therefore meaning the remaining holding didn’t owe me anything, but now have halved the long term gain.

Full order book with no signs of slowing, another factory in Germany and China coming on stream with a share climb of Bitcoin. Famous last words the SP can’t keep climbing or can it ?

Yep no one cares about fundamentals/math, it's the network effect and what's doing well will continue to do well theory, which is panning out well and may well continue to do so for some (indeterminable?) time.

But "yup.. worth 50% of the ftse100... adding the size of BMW in just one day!" just makes me think it's nuts, but then enough people believe it'll be higher next week/month/year is all that's needed for it to continue even higher, and lots of great minds/professionals have been stung trying to short it I beleive.......

Possibly because Tesla are taking control of their whole car manufacture and supply chain process to a far greater extent than existing manufacturers. In-house manufacture of batteries and other critical parts of their vehcles, plus doing away with conventional dealerships means they have greater control and don't have to share the mark up outside the organisation.

In the same way that being a telephone is only a tiny part of a smartphone's function these days, the Tesla power wall is aimed at making the car just one part of the whole Tesla power supply, storage and usage package.

True, but that also might be why they cant fufil the orders they have.

I also remember it being said a long time ago that major manufacturers would end up buying Tesla batteries. "Its wasnt about the cars, it was about the battery technology." It was said major manufacturers where far behind. Neither of those things turned out to be true in anyway did they?

Doesn’t really read to me like they make their own batteries:

Wasn’t the great Tesla battery gigafactory really just a Panasonic factory inside a Tesla building?

Hahaa

By coincidence, I have just been watching this very intresting youtube video on the devleloping Nikola truck company fraud.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88fWUZhYb04

Appears to have been a total sham like Theranos. I found it intresting that when Nikola was first floated in 2020 it was valued at more than Ford, despite never having produced anything except marketing......

Not watched that one yet, but I love ColdFusion. Such great videos.

I bought 4 Tesla shares at $330ish a pop back in 2017 - just under £1k investment. That was before the 5 for 1 split.

That same investment is now 20 shares at a total of just over £17,000. When to sell!?

By coincidence I know exactly the video you mean as YouTube’s algorithm has been pushing it my way for the last few days but I haven’t got round to watching it yet.
