Happy New Year all.

We are due to remortgage the back end of this year. I have been looking at deals on line, comparison sites etc. My question is, is it worth using a mortgage broker/advisor like Charcoal? Many deals online look pretty reasonable so is it worth paying a fee and if you do what do you get in return?

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean Charcol?

When I was looking my broker beat the offers I was getting from the high street banks - including Barclays' Premier offering.

I would definitely recommend shopping around (I spoke to 3 in total and went with the one that gave us the best offer). I found out the best brokers dont tend to advertise check out a few recommendations from f&f's.

I used a local broker. They beat the prices we were getting on our own and enabled us to get a larger loan. They didn't charge a fee (they got their fee from the lender). Would recommended.

If you’re anywhere near West Yorkshire (not that location really matters these days, but if you want local) my wife is a mortgage broker. Be happy to give you some info.
