Aegon Retireready gates - Any advice?
Discussion
Has anyone got any experience with 'gates' with Aegon?
Our company pension is managed by them, I'm tempted to go 'up' a 'gate' which seems to open up a wider range of investment opportunites. I have just left it alone for the last couple of years which has done OK but I'd like to make it work a bit harder.
Company pays in 2% and I pay in 5% although I may look to up my contribution this year. Screenshot from Aegon below:

I'm also in Gate 1, hadn't really thought about going up a notch as it seems to have quite a few things to choose from (as I have) in Gate 1, is there something specific you're wanting to invest in?
I've split input to go into 2 different funds per month, one quite aggressive, the other a more standard.

Yes i wanted to invest in technology fund so i opened up as many gates as I could to get to that.
On on another note, how do you find them? I find the platform OK-ish to use but buggy, but their support is woeful. Absolutely, abysmal. They take an age to answer support tickets, and then you might get a second answer months later contradicting the first.

Slightly O/T but I thought the minimum Employer contribution was 3% ?
Well well, seems you are right. My employer pays 2% too. I wonder if its the same as OP. https://www.gov.uk/workplace-pensions/what-you-you...
1% over past 2 years plus growth

ETA in my excitement i got the numbers mixed up - my employer pays 7% if i pay 2%. Still, hope the link is useful for the OP.

I have an Aegon retire ready pension too. I had to open all 3 gates to find a low cost index fund from Vanguard.
I think the gates are there to limit equity exposure and therefore the risk.
I recall there being many funds to choose from, helpful search function and easy to choose a new fund.
