I am on an SVR mortgage and want to reduce costs and go fixed (bad timing of course). I am also considering moving house (this could be anywhere from 3-12+ months away).

Is there anything more that I need to be aware of other than Early Repayment Charges? (these seem to vary from 0-3% depending on provider/mortgage).

Portability? Several lenders are doing comically cheap 10 year deals currently and if these are portable at a fair charge then they might make sense for a lot of us.

All UK Residential mortgage are portable, with no fee payable for doing so.

But, you would then be restricted to that lenders lending criteria and rates for the further advance when you moved......

My mortgage is very small. If I move I’d need more than double the amount (LTV still fine for all the best rates though).

I’ll have a look around. Portability is an interesting point that I hadn’t thought too much about.
