Recommend me a bank, please.

Have been with Barclays for 35 years. Started with a personal account, and when I started my own company 18 years ago, I figured they would also be alright for a business account.

I've had enough. They've steadily got worse and in hindsight have never really been any better than 'alright'. Have been a loyal customer but have just about had enough of them changing the name of packages and tricking me into something I didn't really want in the first place. Getting help is tedious. Have been trying to delete payees via the banking app and it doesn't allow me to. Called for help on the Live Chat and it has kept me there going around in circles. No help whatsoever.

I need a new bank; have two Barclays accounts I need to get out of there. Business and personal.

Same.

Personal I went to Handelsbanken.
Business I went to Starling.

I will most likely move Handelsbanken / Personal to Starling too - because whilst they are everything attentive and helpful I want, carries a £20pm cost.

First direct get great reviews for personal account. They had some issues last year but been resolved now. I have been with them for personal account for 11 years now and won't switch away.. Their app is ok, nothing fancy but does everything for day to day needs. Customer service is brilliant. Whenever I have had to call them, I can't recall ever waiting for more than 5 mins to spk to someone and most of the times it's less than a minute.

In my experience they usually answer after a few rings; I've never had a problem with them in 25 years. I hear they're offering a cash incentive for new customers at present. Would happily recommend them.

Sadly nothing for people who've been with them for 25 years though frown

Personal account with First Direct for eleven years, as was my mortgage.

Business account. I'm currently with HSBC, but I may move to Starling. I have lots of clients (small businesses) that bank there and they all recommend them.

Newbie question.

When I was setting up a Starling business account it brought up a map and put a pin at my address with my account name/business description of it.

Obviously I don’t want this. But it wasn’t clear if it was adding this to Google or Apple maps or some other lookup database, or just some other kind of thing to look fancy?

Has anyone here done it and ended up with a pin on their address?
It’s just not appropriate or desired for my business activities (sole trader/freelance, not a business premises)

I tried Starling for my business account but they don't accept partnerships.Only ltd co's or sole traders, couldn't say why.
