Credit Card Protection Rights?
Discussion
My daughter's wedding needs 4 payments to be paid all in advance of the wedding itself. In addition there are endless other things that need deposits paying etc (cars, dresses etc).
I'm very nervous that any of these suppliers could go bust and then I'd lose my deposit.
Am I right in thinking that if I pay by credit card (rather than BACS) and a supplier does go bust then the credit card company will refund me?
If so is there a maximum time limit or amount that the credit card company is liable for? (The earliest payment is 30 months ahead of the wedding and the largest payment (the venue) is 4 payments of about £7k each.)
Many thanks.
(CC is MasterCard if that makes a difference).

Speaking from experience, and hopefully you are not stupid enough to get caught out by this, but make sure you only pay on production of a detailed invoice that covers what you are paying for AND is accompanied by a detailed list of everything you will be paying for and when.
We got lightly stung by paying deposits to 'secure current year prices' for the wedding the following year. When it came to final payment the prices had gone up and the venue's ambiguous T&Cs and quote production meant we had no choice but to moan a bit then stump up. Fortunately it was just the food that was impacted so we sucked it up.
Lesson learnt, if ever I do part payment again I want it properly documented.
