Personal Share Account Transfer?
Discussion
Hi all.
Looking for a bit of general advice. Finance isn't something I'm clued up on at all.
I have around 500 shares in my employer, bought monthly through a share save scheme. These are just held by the company.
I've handed my notice in, and these shares will naturally need to leave the scheme. How do I go about transferring these somewhere? I'm assuming I need to open a personal share account with whatever provider, such as Hargreaves Lansdown? I don't own any other shares, so it's not something I've ever looked into.
Current value of the shares is approx £12k, but they fluctuate a fair bit.
The shares are in a large Austrian company, approx 50k employees.
Considering I'm leaving my employer for a competitor, they're not overly helpful at the moment.
Any advice anyone can give would be much appreciated.
Yours,
A confused engineer.

You'll need to speak to whoever holds the shares on your behalf. Usually it's a service provider like this: https://www.computershare.com/uk/business/employee...
Your compensation / benefits team should be able to give you details - or it will be on the paperwork the company sent you.
You might find it easier to sell the shares and then buy them back via HL perhaps via an ISA but do you really want to keep the shares?
