I normally avoid the aggregators but on this occasion I couldn't resist using Confused.

£124 for building and contents including Home Emergency and Legal Expenses with Policy Expert (Silver).

Minus Topcashback £30 and £20 Halfords voucher.

I even read the wording and couldn't see anything glaringly obvious...

Obviously not knowing any details on values makes commenting difficult but sounds very cheap certainly.
Not sure how they can even offer polices that cheaply.
As with all Insurance policies proof and value etc can only be judged by claims service which hopefully you never need to find about.

^ you're right, the claim experience is something that I normally don't cut corners on but it was so cheap compared to Aviva at £276...

£1M building and £75k content - £100 excess on both.

I cut my building and contents premium in half by going to Esure.

Big mistake. A claim for the damage from a burst pipe in Oct 2020 is still ongoing.

Tons of emails, phone calls and countless days when booked builders have not turned up.

All the chasing done by me.

All because the cheapskates went for the cheapest quote rather than a builder I trusted.

Joke is that it has now cost them more than the trusted builder's original quote, plus they have handed me a few hundred pounds in total as a saying sorry.

Needless to say that I am no longer with them.

Would Aviva's claims experience be particularly good compared with the other insurer?

I don't know but I assume so.

Re Aviva, Storm Eunice meant I lost several roof tiles. I got a roofer to provide a quote (it was outrageous!), it was challenged by Aviva and reduced to something more reasonable. Aviva then paid the claim as per the revised quote before the work was done. All in all, a good outcome.

Shame they would not pay for replacing the substantial damage to our fences but I gather that no home buildings insurer covers storm damage to fences.

My house insurance went up massively this year. Was £250 - new quote £1200 odd via broker I have used for years.

Ended up going with Aviva for around £500

Glad to see some quotes similar to ours. Everyone I've spoken to in (exciting) conversation is paying circa £200 a year against our £500! Standard 4 bed, 3 reception, 3 bath house, but it's covering my wife's jewelry, my watch and bike outside of the house that hikes it up. WFH I think I've worn my watch out the house twice in the past year, so probably a bit overkill.
