Could you financal guru's tell me what % I'm likely to achieve if I invest my money in a fairly safe place (for approximately 10 years if that helps) Interested in hearing where people actually have there money,not just pointed to an advert .

Define fairly safe.

To have a chance of making a real return (above inflation) over 10 years, you will need to take some risk.

If you genuinely have 10 years, then it’s 100% equities IMO.

Make it easy. MSCI World ETF.

Better to be buying now rather than start of year.

You could make 8-10% per annum by the end of the 10yr period. But no one can predict with certainty.

That depends if you're comfortable with the prospect of seeing your £400k investment showing a value of £200k which to many people isn't something they're comfortable with.

Volatility isn't the same as return of capital but to most people who want a "fairly safe" investment 100% equities probably isn't it.

Plenty of less volatile options.

It would be property for me.

Yes, there's a chance it will dip soon. But 10 years from now it'll certainly be higher.

In the meantime it's earning you rent. £400k house round here is £1200pcm.
