Vanguard Junior S&S ISA once 18 help
Discussion
My eldest is now 18 and his Junior S&S ISA has disappeared from my login/account on Vanguard as it is now a full adult S&S ISA.
He obviously doesn’t have a Vanguard account as yet so I assume he now needs to create one, only trouble is it asks what product you want to create with your new Vanguard account (S&S ISA, GIA etc) when signing up…..anyone had experience of what he needs to do?
Eg I don’t want to pick S&S ISA as he already has one and it sounds like this would create another!
I’ve not had an email from Vanguard or anything regarding the account and they are closed so can’t ring currently.

When our youngest turned 18 ii wrote to him with the ISA account number etc. Like many 18 year olds he paid the letter little attention! He obviously doesn’t have a Vanguard account as yet so I assume he now needs to create one, only trouble is it asks what product you want to create with your new Vanguard account (S&S ISA, GIA etc) when signing up…..anyone had experience of what he needs to do?

Have you checked with your son - he should have received something I think.

Not had anything via email or the post, as yet….would of expected it before the account swapped over (he was 18 yesterday).
Why not ring them and ask what the process is when JISA becomes ISA? I doubt they'll discuss the specifics of your son's account as its his and nowt to do with you any more!I’ve always been a bit nervous about a well loaded junior ISA falling into the hands of an 18 year olds, but to see it just dissapear from your account and into their direct control on their 18th birthday without even signing a form makes me nervous. Who knows what my kids will turn out like in 10 years time!

Nobody there on bank holidays, just wondered that there must of been someone with a JISA that matured on here.
Yes, as I said, they contact the owner - i.e. your son. There should be no “setting up” to do, the JISA automatically becomes an ISA. Well, that is what happened with ii and that is what Vanguard say about their JISA too.
Sorted.
They replied to my query via email to say he should have had his details sent to him and if not to give them a ring.
An hour later, before we had chance to ring, we got an email with his username and an email with his password (well his password was blank to useless), seems like it needed someone to press a button rather than it be an automated process.
Reset his password as we now had his username and everything seems to be present and correct.
