What's going on with the big bank names with their pitiful interest rate offerings on cash ISAs?
The current Bank of England rate to high street banks is 1.25%, still a very low number in comparison to years gone by, but the big name banks are not passing this on to savers.
HSBC for example, even on their "loyalty rate" is only offering 0.4%, that is only 32% of the BoE rate.
Are such banks currently flush with high profits that they don't need to worry about losing customers? (I know the Halifax doesn't mind losing customers, but for other reasons wink )

Same with non ISA’s although Lloyds Bank have just upped their “ best “ general savings accounts to 0.50% with supposedly a rise to 0.75% coming shortly.

I don't think cash ISAs have been worthwhile for ages.

Compared to Lord G I feel embarrassed about my post count ratio to member months - hopefully retirement
may assist 🤣

Heh. I'm hoping retirement will have the opposite effect - will have time to do something more productive.
