What credit cards do you have?
Discussion
I’ve got 3, but was thinking, is that too many? Or should I go for the Lloyds Cashback card as a non Amex or Avios points alternative? I am not a big spender nor do I fly or stay in hotels (other than Premier Inn) - I’m a student
I always pay my balance off in full every month, but like having the 0% purchases feature just in case.
Me:
American Express Platinum Everyday (my daily) - decent limit and rewards
Sainsbury’s Bank Nectar card (great for student shopping as Sainsbury’s is the local shop)
HSBC student (back up card that has actual branches, if that matters) - nice Low APR but small limit.
I’m also a secondary cardholder on an M&S Bank Rewards card - but that doesn’t count
What should I go for next? Nothing, an Avios card, or a cashback card?
What cards do you have?

I have a Barclaycard 0.5% Cashback card that I use for pretty much everything. Paid off in full each month, and returns about £70 a year in cashback.
Also have a back up Barclaycard that I keep for unbudgeted emergency purchases on 0%
That way I can keep my main card for everyday use and pay off in full, while being able to chip away at a large purchase over a period of time with the other

Main is Vitality American Express - I get 2% cashback on that if I achieve max 'points' (nearly always happens)
Used to have amazon platinum mastercard until they recently canned it, still have but don't use anymore. Now got the Barclaycard Avios free thingy, and also use the Chase debit with 1% cashback

How did you managed to have 2 Barclaycard accounts? I thought you were only allowed one type of Barclaycard? Also have a back up Barclaycard that I keep for unbudgeted emergency purchases on 0%

Amex cash back for most spend (16 years now)
Just changed my backup card from nationwide to Lloyds as Nationwide gave up cash back. First time for a couple of decades without a visa credit card.
I spend just about everything on credit cards purely for cash back. They get paid in full each month and I never carry a balance.

Gave up all credit cards a few years ago, much better.
In what way?I use a Natwest credit card for business expenses. I get reimbursed just before the money comes out of my account.
Credit cards work for some people.
Amex card with something like 1% cashback which I use everywhere that will take it. Smaller shops tend not to.
Barclaycard visa with (I think) 0.5% cashback which I use for whatever the Amex doesn't take.
Halifax clarity card mastercard for foreign spending. I used it earlier this month for the first time since December 2019.

Nationwide - Visa - held for numous years but now rarely used. Kept as it has a high limit.
Barclaycard - Visa - mainly used for our supermarket shopping as often has a high percentage cash back for that supermarket.
Lloyds - Mastercard - main credit card due to decent cashback on all purchases.
All cards always paid off in full every month by direct debit.

BA Amex used to get the companion voucher each year
Platinum Amex used for all the hotel and dining perks etc
Natwest Mastercard linked to my other accounts that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees
MBNA visa because it just won’t die despite me never using it. The logic of keeping it is that this way I’ve got 3 different types of card.
All cleared in full every month
