Unchanged as far as I can see. Where do you think you are seeing any reference to it changing? There is a stamp duty change at 125k but thats obviously nothing to do with PAYE.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-629947...

Why?Today's mini-budget, plus the energy price cap could cost up to £300billion plus we still have the cost of Covid to pay for.
The money has to come from somewhere and at no point has she said where this is coming from, other than 'further borrowing'
As it is, she's sticking the entire pot on red, hoping that tax cuts and price caps will keep us putting money into the economy.

That sounds worryingly accurate. I've a horrible feeling I know which way this is heading.Today's mini-budget, plus the energy price cap could cost up to £300billion plus we still have the cost of Covid to pay for.

It does seem madness given the debt problems, it doesn’t even play well to most of the electorate, we help the rich and bankrupt the country isn’t a great slogan.Today's mini-budget, plus the energy price cap could cost up to £300billion plus we still have the cost of Covid to pay for.

It sounds ridiculous, but this is why getting rid of Boris was a bad idea (only in terms of timing) It was always likely that someone coming in would need to garner support from the public.
Rishi was the only one who seemed to have the right idea of battening down the hatches, helping those who really needed it but letting some pain onto the rest of us. But that would have seen them lose the next election, so he was voted down. Inevitable, but disappointing.

But from a country perspective, I think it's utter madness.
This is the 45% tax Brown introduced just as the boot connected with his arse in 2010?
More as a parting gesture of two fingers to the incoming Tories (ok coalition). Cameron should have binned it immediately, imo.
If it encourages top surgeons to do a few days extra in theatre to fund their golfing holidays then I'm all for it.
I earn nowhere near it by the way.

This is a mini-budget for a new prime minister hoping to gain popularity, rather than reforms to actually help the UK.

I really do not see much cause for optimism in the country's finances now.
The pound will sink, interest rates will rise.
A lot of people are in for a very hard time.
Quite possibly keeping Boris would have made no difference, the problem is, decisions have been deferred for months while the party turned on Boris and Rishi.
For 6 years, we've stumbled from one excuse not to look at the fundamentals of the country to the next. Referendum, Brexit, Covid, Ukraine.
TBH, they've been stumbling about since 2010.
Now the economy seems to be the big story.
We're in the s
t, but we've used up everything we can boost the economy with, just to keep the plates spinning since Blair ran out of steam.Gassing Station | Finance | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
