I put £20k into a balanced med risk stocks and shares ISA with Nutmeg in summer 2021. Briefly rose to c.£22k, it's since dropped to c £17k, now back to just under £18k.

I know the 'what should I do question' is virtually impossible to answer and the standard advice will be this is for the long term, just sit and hold it etc....but I just wonder if I'm not suited to letting someone else manage my money (barring my DC pensions - I just leave those alone as I also have DB as main pension).

Over the same period, dabbling on IG has netted me c.25% return, I may have just been lucky on a couple of shares, but what are others doing here ? I sense that I just find the prospect of small increases on a relatively small sum very dull.

I just feel that sitting this out may take a few years Vs pulling the money out and taking a few educated punts....and at least I only have myself to blame if it goes awry. £20k isn't nothing to me, but also isn't a sleep loser in the scheme of things...

Any views...?

Depends if you need the money.

If you sell you crystallise the loss. If you don’t need the money you can hang on a bit and it should recover a bit. The markets are down in general at the moment with Ukraine, energy crisis, etc.

If the market was stronger than accepting the loss and investing in greener pastures would be a less risky move. I am a very simple amateur investor though. Seek a professional opinion like someone from IM maybe be able to help you more.
