Hi,

A friend has financial power of attorney for his mother. He's worried about a relative with a bit of a reputation applying for a loan or credit card in his mother's name.

Is there any way of ensuring this can't happen?

Can he register her with Equifax or similar to prevent any successful credit applications?

Thanks in advance

You could put a CIFAS marker on her account meaning extra checks before getting credit.

Can attach a password to their credit file, which would then refer any applications with the banks for them to manually confirm the password with said family member.
