advice please.. Merchant has two credit cards and my paypal. I have emptied the paypal, cancelled both cards and amex have tried to block that merchant after I spoke to them.
Can they still take my money? They have absolutely no case which I would confidently argue in court but rather it didnt get to that stage.. anything else I can do to stop them trying to debit me?

Declare the card lost - they'll send a new one out and the replacement will have different details

If he does manage to sneak through the defences, there's always chargeback/Section 75 to deploy if your case is sound. I've found my CC companies very helpful in this respect.

isnt exactly what canceling it does? if i've provided card details to a merchant that are kept for next years renewal , then i get a new card it no longer works

what would be the point in canceling a card if the old one still worked and a thief could continue to use it?

Probably sold someone a working iPhone which they claimed was not working and sent back a different IMEI!
