Base Editing companies
Discussion
I’m not an investor by trade - but have enjoyed some great returns on a few companies which at the time were considered ‘weird’ - mainly Nvidia and Tesla and both were bought seeing a vision of the future.
I’ve now come across something called Base Editing and on the face of it seems quite remarkable - and also the shares in companies involved are around half from their respective highs.
Does anyone on here have further insight? I’m certainly going to invest something - and maybe others will, or tell me I’m crazy (which is fine).

Vertex Pharmaceuticals together with Moderna are very close to releasing an mRNA gene editing therapy for the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis. A one time inhaler direct to the lungs which will correct a mutation preventing the protein pathway used to metabolise their existing CF drugs. Essentially, there are patients who can't benefit from existing meds because they lack the CFTR protein and this therapy will enable them to produce it.
It is expected that this one time(dose) drug will cost $2-$3M per patient.
Vertex also have partnerships with Crispr pharma.

Wow Adam - that’s really interesting and appreciated. I didn’t realise how many ‘players’ were in the market so think I’m going to be a bit of a wimp and spread 3 ways - but will certainly include Vertex (if they’re listed where I can access).
Yes VRTX is listed on the main boardshttps://investors.vrtx.com
If you are interested in their pipeline, you can access plenty of information.
I would say that this sort of drug research is very expensive. Many Pharma's go bust trying. Vertex however makes billions(already) and has a large bank roll.
Cheers
