Overpay mortgage before moving? Or port it?

I have a small mortgage and really want to move. Obviously right now is a terrible time to move so in reality I’m looking at a year or two away. I have a 5yr fix at ~1.5% and mortgages now are significantly more expensive. Should I overpay and clear this mortgage, or save money and port this mortgage and get a second on a new house in a year or two?

Any decent savings will out perform your current mortgage rate, so save and port your mortgage over if you can
