Separation: house split

I’ve been for for 20 years but have a new login for this.

I am separating from my wife, 2 kids, nice home etc, and it’s all change now. It’s my choice, but I’d like to do right by the three of them, they’d like to stay in the family home, which I think will reduce the strain right now (wife struggling with this news, son diagnosed with Crohn’s recently).

I’m happy to pay the mortgage (£2400-£2800 poss later this year) and have her use salary to cover the rest of the household expenses while I rent. OR, and this I’m interested in perspectives on- IF the severing of ties with me is more important to her, we have about 600k of equity in the house- what split might be fair for her to go on on living with the kids (I wish they were with me 50:50). After tax I earn double what she does plus I have a nice bonus most years (20-50k after tax). So if she took no more of my salary, would I be doing something like 500:100 split on the equity to get her in her feet?

I am not interested in “winning”- this is my family, even if she hates me for now, I want them all to be ok. Thank you for any thoughtful/kind/experienced views on this.
