Hi - just hoping someone here will be able to answer a question i have following my divorce as i've been unable to get an answer elsewhere on the 'net.

TLDR - divorced a couple of years ago and our children spend time equally with both of us on a 3 day on/off rotation. Eldest is finishing her college studies this year and plans on a year off before enrolling in uni.

Up until now, she's been covered by the exemption for further education and as such i've been claiming the 25% single person discount.

With her having a year off, the exemption doesn't apply from June-ish until she commences uni in Aug/Sept 24. However, as she doesn't live with me all the time, does this not mean the single person discount can still carry on?

How do we calculate who she is living with in respect of both council tax and any single person discount?

Thanks in advance.

I was going to have my 20 year old son live with me part-time.

I am unsure what the official line is but I was going to make sure that anything official of his, banks, credit cards etc are sent to his 'main' address at his mum's and that he was only staying with me temporarily.

Problem i have is that i'm still living in the previous "family home" whilst the ex moved out.

As such, all bank accounts and the like were registered here as naturally it was my Daughter's home.

Sounds like this might be more complicated and messy than i'd hoped for!
