Just pondering and wondered what happens to these crims who take out the loans etc and then simply cash them in.
Does anyone go after them for the HMRC side of the fraud - income tax etc?

HMRC are pursuing SOME of thse frauds but they have admitted that they lack the resourses to go after as many as they would like.

A friend of mine has a son who is ex police, working for a private company supporting fraud squad, was tasked with tracking and putting out of business loan sharks, since covid is now tasked with fraudulent activities associated with the overly easily scammed system the government rushed in place.

Whether they have the resources and results they should be achieving is probably another matter.

One or two will be made examples of. By that I mean they will be plastered over some paper with stories of how they partied like a tory on tax payers money. For that small percentage the punishment will be laughable with plenty of room for workarounds. The rest will make off like bandits... like we always knew they would.
