My wife and I both have a few hundred IDS (ex-Royal Mail) shares from privatisation. We have virtually no experience in selling shares, and no intention of gaining it (too old). We want to get rid of them.

How should we set about it? Do I give mine to my wife (if so, exactly how?), so she only pays selling fees on one transaction, not two?

Ease, cost, speed: that's the order of priority.

Thanks.

May be worth spending a few minutes on the phone with the registrar helpline

What's going to happen to RM shareholders as a result of the takeover? Are our shares automatically sold to Kretinsky?

I have a slight problem in that we moved house in 2016 and all our shares are registered to the old property and I've never got around to re-registering them.

I am not an expert but I had to go through this for my uncle over many months and it was pretty torturous for me considering the very low values involved.

How do you know that you have shares which is not a joke question as the share certificates will likely say who is the registrar and how to sell the shares?

Do you receive correspondence from the Registrar along with dividend notifications? They would normally send you forms allowing a quick sale which are much easier to use than setting up a separate transaction?

If you register with the common registrar websites like Equiniti, Shareview and Computershare they may be able to identify you and already know all your holdings.

If you don't have all your certificates then you can still sell for an increased cost and by giving an indemnity.
