Current Account recomendation
Discussion
Hi, need to find a new current account as my existing bank is removing their current account product (to be fair its sh*te and I should have moved long ago but never got around to it).
The one thing is does have is multiple accounts / pots - so I can have a current account, my wife has her account, we have a joint account (all the bills come out of this) and we also several saving pots - this suits us very well and would like to keep this functionality.
So any recommendations on good current accounts with multiple accounts / pots?
thx

If you don't need to pay in cash or cheques, Chase will do all that.
I still have my Nationwide account though as I can't be bothered moving all my DDs and payroll over, I just leave a float in there and move everything else to Chase. All my day-to-day spending goes through there and I get 1% cashback on most purchases, 1% interest on current account balance and 3.3% interest on all savings accounts (instant access) with them.

Starling has you covered on all those, also works great overseas with no fees.
thanks - do you have experience with high value transactions with them, my ins and outs are a bit random and can be large and my current bank are pretty good / have a call centre you can talk to! Have used revolut and they are a complete pain to deal with once they think something is out of the ordinary!Funk said:

I have a Chase account, but for me after nineteen (19) years with First Direct, i have no intentions of moving away from the best app, online banking account, 24/7 phone line.
Thanks Wings, do they offer multiple accounts / pots so you can have different accounts for different activities? thxMashwort said:

Is the First Direct banking app any good?
They are paying £175 + £30 Amazon voucher to switchers until Monday (see Money Saving Expert)
The app is good. Very simple in appearance. Just black and white text - no fireworks or swimming fish, but it works well. They are paying £175 + £30 Amazon voucher to switchers until Monday (see Money Saving Expert)
Plus you can ring up and talk to a real person in Leeds in an instant if you need to.
7% regular saver (up to £300 per month, per person) as well.

The big draw for me is one phone number and you get straight through to a UK call centre with no menus or faffing.
Haven’t called them for years but the facility is reassuring.
Having said that no frills like cashback or commission free overseas use so I now use it in combination with a Chase account which isn’t as complicated at it sounds…
15 years with First Direct likely to be coming to an end now because their app only works on Android 9 and up and my phone runs 8 and can't be easily updated. I've reached the conclusion after hours of googling over the last month that it's going to be easier, cheaper and lower risk to change my bank than change my phone. They offered a digital key but I just can't be fannied with that as I travel for work a lot and it's another fat lump of plastic to cart about with me everywhere.
We need a joint account but Starling won't suffice as Mrs 2gins doesn't want another account (you both need a Starling account first). I've thought about maintaining the FD account and using Chase or Starling day to day but with 3 FD accounts, 2 ISAs and 3 other savings account to keep track of I'd like to keep it simple and give FD the boot.
Where to go?

Carphone Warehouse?OK maybe not literally but genuinely why would you let your ancient phone dictate your bank?
At some point you will have to replace the phone.
