So I have a few btls, I am drawing a pension and a job, and realise that I could do with some steerage about strategy, my accountant just does the bare minimum, my financial adviser is only interested when the mortgages come around?

Are these the only options or is there someone else to turn to?

What are you looking for advice on? Is it tax efficiency or maximising investment income, or a bit of both?

You probably want to speak to a tax or pension advisor.

Bit more specialised than an accountant who I think are restricted in the advice they can give because of IFA rules.

Your IFA may not be interested because it’s more work for potentially little or no more billing time to you.

If the OP wants to make sure income is taken efficiently, then their accountant can (should) be able to deal with that. If they want help with what they should do with the pension in terms of investment or plan out allocation of assets, budgets and selling, then that's a matter for an IFA.

Hi thanks for the comments.

I am after advice surrounding tax and investments, my btl portfolio is not looking great with the new mortgage rates and I would also like to make it more tax efficient by potentially selling one, the other option is selling up entirely and investing the money.

Was wondering if there was any thoughts on this? I am in a similar situation - want a sanity check if everything is as efficient as it could be from a tax perspective - do these tax specialist really exist?

Everyone seems to be an IFA & want to tell you how to manage your cash & pension.

Accountants are generally not allowed, or qualified, to give investment advice. However, they should be able to let you know the tax implications of the various options.
