I keep seeing articles about "the quantum finance system" and how it will improve security, allow faster transactions etc etc but don't really understand yet what it does and what it means to the general man in the street - if anyithing in practice.

Are banks adopting it? What disadvantages are there?

I'm sure there will be many on PH who will know more than me.

I know enough to think you're looking at some pretty misleading websites.

Thanks - even that's helpful.

This is typical of the kind of thing I'm seeing

Sounds interesting but goes way above for me.

The only people I have heard discussing it online are absolute loons, and I'm someone who will happily listen to fringe gold/bitcoin advocates...

I've a couple of sweatshirts with the time-independent Schrodinger equation on them, and IMO that page was written to sound impressive, interesting and incomprehensible.

I've learnt quickly that anyone who uses the term "quantum" is probably mental or trying to scam mental people.

The few people who can legitimately use the term have probably got a few PhDs and work in recognised and respected universities.

Well, If I was to dumb it down I'd say it's s a branch of econophysics, a heterodox interdisciplinary research field that involves applying theories and techniques to solve complex problems in economics.

I can't put it any simpler than that, really.

One of the many things I love about PH is that you can ask a question about a subject you know nothing about and within 5 responses find out - I don't need to.

Thank you. beer

After today's semi-surreal New Normal banking experience I'd be in favour of prohibiting banks from using anything technological in customer interactions beyond using the telephone and the calculator once fully trained to do so.

I don't know anything about it but a guy I know who is senior at the Fed says IFS is coming. He also said cash is going.

It's anecdotal so could be BS though...

Username checks out.

I've heard that at any one moment you'll know where your money is, but not how much you have and vice versa!

For normal people ignore it.
