Car insurance - NCD database
Discussion
Anyone in the know about the NCD database please?
I took out a new car insurance policy with Esure a couple of weekends ago on a Mini, and whilst I have 20+ years NCD it occurred to me that I have been a named driver on a multi-car policy with another insurance provider under my former partner's name during the last 4 / 5 years. I believe there is a NCD database which should hold details of my previous NCD so I wanted to check if anyone knows if this NCD database will be checked by Esure which is what I want as my quote is based on that 20+ years NCD. Presumably they'll come back to me if a further premium needs to be made?
For various reasons I can't personally call them and their we chat is hopeless. I've tried four email addresses for them but have got nowhere.
Thanks

I don't believe there is such a database and is one the reasons why you sometimes need to show proof of NCD with some companies when taking out a new policy. This proof is normally your renewal invitation or letter from previous insurer.
As said above, most insurance companies only allow a gap of 2 to 3 years before it is lost.
Also most insurance companies cap the maximum number of years of NCD to between 5 and 7 years, irrespective on how many years you have been claim free.

If you're with Esure/Sheila's Wheels, cancel the policy and run away as quickly as you can.
Speaking from bitter personal experience. If you have to claim you will spend hours and hours trying to get through to their African call centre. You will have to fight tooth and nail to get the courtesy car you paid for.
You will wait weeks and weeks waiting for a settlement cheque and they will completely ignore any and all communication.
Look at the reviews from people that have tried to claim. They are appaling, it's not just the odd one off
