Might appear a stupid question but to cut a long story short a company I dealt with to buy some wine a decade ago has just admitted to not selling a case after chasing me for payment for storage charges.
They have agreed to pay me the value of the case but want my bank details to transfer the money.
I have asked for a company cheque but they say they don’t do that.
Am I being unreasonable or what alternatives are there for payment ?
Thanks.

In asking for a cheque, they’re giving you a bit of paper with their bank details on it….!

Yes you’ll most likely be safe enough it’s generally how the world of payments works.

You're all good to give them your bank details. As Jeremy Clarkson found out, the worst they can do it set up a direct debit from your account, and the DD guarantee will protect you if that's done fraudulently.

You could get them to transfer me the money and then I will send it back to you in the form of a cheque?

I mean, I am just waiting on a few things to clear and that last tax refund..... so give me a couple of weeks right....

One party has to give the other party their bank details, otherwise the transaction cannot happen.

Appreciate the quick replies.
Perhaps I should have highlighted my concern that the last time I dealt with them being a decade ago was my primary concern being that they had already screwed up.
I emailed their CFO post a phone call from them and he has just emailed me back with a decent explanation so have given the details to him.
