US investments and Presidential election
Discussion
Some of my pension is in SL US Equity Pension Fund. One of my more volatile / risky funds.
It's doing very well at present.
However, I'm wondering how markets will react to the presidential election, particularly if Trump gets in. I'm wondering about leaving that fund shortly and look to re-enter after the election dust settles.
Thoughts?

How was it last time he got in? All the data should be there for you to find. It's doing very well at present.

Over 60% of everything I have is invested in the US, I hadn’t even given the old person they have sitting in the chair for 4 years a second thought.

The only major dips in the last 10 years was Covid and then Ukraine, but the markets bounced back: https://www.macrotrends.net/1358/dow-jones-industr...

i'd be more worried about the markets if Biden gets back in....
Do you really believe that trust has much to do in business? Especially in investment business. The press makes investors look like they are 4 year olds. The laws remain the same even if the president switches. There is little difference in politics, ok Biden forgave some student loans, but do those had a chance of being repaid?
the US invests heavily in the UK

The issue is that people are scared of numbers. So the US adds each year 3 trillion Dollars to their depth. Still people buy their treasury bills. China sells and other people buy. China lost out on the last raise. 4% rise on treasury bills is huge.
Historically election years have been good for US markets - irrespective of thw winner. 2024 looks to be continuing the trend.
I believe that two well known investors have this to say about the US president: (paraphrasing)
Munger: the US constitution is designed to stop the president doing anything stupid.
Buffet: the only job of the president is prevent nuclear war.
I think both have / had done ok ignoring whomever was president.
