So just getting my finances in order before a change in government.
Earning mid £60k.
Single parent with 2 kids.
Very low outgoings so most of it is chucked into savings.
Investment on savings is covered - ISAs etc.
What I would like to do is lower my taxable salary so to be classified as one of those "normal working parents" rather than "rich".
My own beliefs are that government borrowing will go up rather than down and the stocks and shares will not perform well.
So thinking I'm between a rock and a hard place.

(1) Is this the wrong time to invest in the stock market via a company pension?
(2) can you invest in just government debt via a SIPP?
(3) Is there something better elsewhere?

(1) impossible to tell
(2)don't see why not
(3)depends hugely on the rest of your assets and general situation.

(0)If you can do salary sacrifice AVCs, due to the saving in NI they may be a better choice than a SIPP, depending on what is offered in the AVC investment "catalogue".

Broadly speaking beliefs and gut feelings aren't sensible ways to invest.
