Every now and again I get an alert from HMRC telling me I have a new message.

I go and check the message and it says along the lines off "Your tax statement will be ready in a few days, check back regularly".

Why waste my time with these messages? Why not send me an alert when whatever it is actually ready?

Would expect nothing less from HMRC biggrin

Mind you, they're far from unique in sending pointless alerts... Every month I get an email from Barclaycard saying "your statement is here", and every month it doesn't appear in the app or online banking for about another two days.

Worse still is the Land Registry - you can sign up to alerts in case anyone tries to do something fraudulent involving your property title. Every few months I have a slight panic when I get an email entitled "HM Land Registry Property Alert Activity Update". Only to open it and it says “There have been no alert notifications issued on this property.”

I agree, it's bloody annoying, especially after I've had to endure the lengthy log in procedure.

Regarding Land Registry:-

That’s weird.
Mine come every 6 months only:-

Hardly a big deal

But as per the thread title it is pointless. If you are monitoring more than one and didn't sign them all up at the same time you will get several.

Agreed re Barclaycard, that is really, really annoying.

Personally I'd not be too bothered about that LR email alert. The issue I have with the HMRC on eis that I get an email telling me I have a new message. I then faff logging in to find the new message just says I will be getting a message in a few days and to keep an eye open for it. My point is why not just alert me when the message they want me to login and read is actually available??

Impressed!
I just had an alert
Last week we had a meeting to set up a new will, going tenants in common, for a number of reasons..
Just had an alert, due to the will company making enquiries.
“ There has been activity on the following property for which you have requested a Property Alert notification”
+ details of who it was from.
