Given everything that has happened recently I wanted to send you all a personal message here, where it all began for the "PH 700".

I launched Intelligent Money 22 years ago and through innovation, strong ethics and establishing trust went on to attract over 20,000 clients. You chose to become a Private Client and so there is no need for me to explain how I operate, my ethos, openness and approach. Your experience of this speaks for itself.

It is therefore important to me that you are fully aware of the current position so that you are able to make informed decisions. What you signed up to, Intelligent Money and Intelligent Money Private Clients, has now been replaced by Quai Investment Services and Cobens Direct (a trading name of Astute Financial Management (UK) Limited).

I am no longer involved in your products, servicing and support or any future development, direction or oversight of the portfolios I created, where your money is invested.

Instead you have been made the client of a financial adviser, whose approach will naturally be different to my own.

I agree with others that moving PHE away from its long standing ‘buy and hold’ defensive balance in pursuit of racier returns somewhat defeats its purpose and, in any event, there is already a growing reliance on a small number of such stocks elsewhere. However, the responsibility for managing your money, together with all communication and support, is now down to the new companies.

Whilst I believe you should have been asked if you wanted - or were happy with - the changes they have made to date, these are now complete.

I would therefore like to take the opportunity to thank you all for placing your trust in me over the years and for all of the interaction we have enjoyed together throughout this time.

We have experienced the ups and downs of various market cycles, taken full advantage of the Covid lockdown with PH Recovery, launched new portfolios and adapted to various changes and challenges. Many of us have also enjoyed some fantastic racing meets at the British GT Championships.

Uniquely, we have provided access, knowledge, insight, learning and clear, open honest communication on a level never seen before. When I first told people I was going to conduct all of this completely transparently on a live public forum I was told I was crazy.

I believe I have been proved right and that many here now have far greater financial awareness and understanding than before. My key focus was always to inform and engage. The more you understand the less reliant you are on those out there whose interests may not fully align to yours. Investing is a distance event, not a sprint, and the journey really does matter.

I have obviously received many emails asking what I will be doing next. The answer comes in two parts; IM Private Clients was designed to be linked to Intelligent Money and its products. With this link now removed it will no longer be continuing.

Instead, I have been asked to become part of a larger organisation that supports and shares my ethos and approach and has the resources and commitment for this to continue as originally designed and intended.

Whilst PistonHeads will always have wide and varied finance discussions in this forum, it has chosen not to continue with sponsored finance threads going forward. A new home has therefore been created to continue these and you are very welcome to join in and find out more at www.we-listened.com

Cheers for now

Julian

Nice to hear from you.

Presumably the forum is not "up" yet, as I just get an error message when I've read the site above and try to go to it.

Nice to be back - it has been a very hectic time!

The link is now working (it was directing to qandamoney.com but we had to start off with qandamoney.co.uk for the first few days).

I'll be returning to being active on all my usual haunts here on PH for general stuff, these forums are simply a replacement for the old sponsored ones.

We've tried a new format to make searching easier, but I'm not sure whether this will go down well or not. We can always change them!

Cheers

Hey Julian,

Good to hear from you and confirming my suspicions about how things have panned out.

Things ain't been the same without you here.

My 4 year relationship with IM has been both informative and financially beneficial so thanks for the occasionally bumpy ride.

Jasey

Ps Wales look like they may have turned a corner but we'll still gub you winkbiggrin

Pps the way IM were treated seems like the government body blaming the guy that installed the hardware for the horizon system fiasco.

Apps good luck with the new venture. See you over there smile
Hey Jasey, I've just said hi on your post there before seeing this and mentioned the rugby. It sounds like it might be safe to come out from behind the sofa and put the Lego away now!

Thank you so much for the kind words, I really thought we had achieved something very special here with the whole package and was very surprised that Private Clients was completely ditched and replaced, but that is just they way it is now.

The Horizon comparison has been put forward before and whilst it is clear that IM could have done more, there is absolutely no guidline as to how much more would have been enough. To carry the blame for absolutely all parties involved when we were just the administrator of those schemes is harsh in anyone's book though.

Cheers

Hi Julian, nice to see you back. My first venture into investments was with IM almost 4 years ago. I was very happy with the service you and the team gave me. You did an amazing job with PHR (I wish I had put more in!) I doubt there were any other companies who were prepared and able to do that.

I also had a great time at Snetterton with the team last year smile

Best of luck for the future

Good to see you back J

Looking forward to seeing how your next venture pans out. (Sure there's going to be one)?

The wheels are still not rotating in unison at Corbens yet, so may well be looking for a change of provider.

Hi Gary, many thanks for your message - we all wish we had put more into PHR!

It always amazed me that no one else came up with the same idea be honest. Creating a retail investment portfolio of companies badly hit by lockdown, but which would otherwise quickly bounce back, was just so obvious to me.

I believe the industry too often looks to the complex or tries to be over clever. For me it has always been about executing simple logic well, which is exactly what I will continue doing going forward.

Cheers

Hi Grant, it's great to have some time to be back again!

My first point of action was to replace the sponsored forums, which are now live and can be found through the opening link. They are no replacement for the breadth and depth of PH, but they continue where the sponsored ones left off.

I'm also working with some great people who share my ethos and approach and more will be announced on that very shortly. In a nutshell it is along the lines of why change a winning formula.

I hope to see you on the replacement forums soon mate!

Hi James

Many thanks for your kind words, I'm always happy to hear we achieved what I set out to do.

I look forward to seeing you with the others on the new forums, though of course I'll still be on here for everything else!
