My end-June payslip showed PAYE as £1010.
From end-July onwards, so for Aug and now Sep, PAYE is showing as £1090.

As a result, monthly take-home pay is £80 down - any idea why?

This change has not occurred at April tax year change point.

Assuming nothing else has changed has your tax code changed?

Tax code changes don't always happen at the start of the tax year

Could be that you've been auto enrolled into the pension scheme.

Tax code did not change - has been 1863L throughout.

That would reduce rather than increase the amount of tax payable.

so just to be clear nothing else has changed?

i.e. all the other pay elements (Basic pay, overtime, bonus, allowances etc) are all the same and haven't changed since April? And the only thing that has changed is that your tax deduction has increased?

if so that is extremely odd.

No changes; I have been paying 6% of my salary monthly into pension scheme.

I don't receive monthly bonuses; just an annual bonus around Feb/ Mar.

I will see if I can get some screenshots.

Another thing you might want to do is put the figures through Listentotaxman.com. That might give you an idea of what the correct figure should be.

Are those figures gross or net monthly earnings?

Is it something to do with exceeding your personal allowance hence paying tax on earnings above this.

Looks like your pay is up by £80 a month unless I'm reading it wrong.

You're reading it wrong.

PAYE is a deduction. The amount being deducted has increased therefore net takehome has decreased.

Sometimes, if you have had a large lump sum or bonus go through it can take a couple of months for the PAYE amount to settle down to the correct level. However OP says nothing has changed so it is odd, to say the least.

I've read it wrong as well.

Honestly ask payroll to be sure but don't be afraid to query it.

Ours still use spreadsheets and I ended up with two lots of AVCs one month as someone forgot to update it right.

They should be able to explain it though.

Ask your payroll department, there really is nothing anyone on here can do without having all their info.

You say the tax code hasn't changed. Neither have the Tax bands, so something has to have triggered it.

P11Ds normally get filed early July so that would have been my first question, are there any benefits, but if your tax code hasn't changed it rules that out.

Good luck asking your payroll. Mine just send me a spreadsheet doc that just makes me more confused than before smile

Incidentally I've found this site to be spot on unless you've got something complex going on.

Do you know the specific reasons why it's above the typical 1257L. Loads of codes get reduced from this regular code even down to K codes but in my limited experience a code that is above 1257L isn't common.
