Let’s share our savings tricks
Discussion
As we all know the UK is getting far too expensive and with further increases incoming consumers are holding back. I thought this thread would be useful to help each other through the financial bad times.
My tip. If you work 5 days a week in an office bring your own lunch. I purchase a loaf of bread and some double gloucester cheese for £6. This does me a week. My colleagues spend £6 per day on lunch. So £30 a week. £120 a month. I save £96 a month through doing what I do which covers travel costs.
Please share your tips. Can be for anything as it saves money.

24 hour fasts 3 times a week. Think how much you save by just not eating. And you lose weight so you don't wear your chairs or shoes out so quickly.
Also, switch your thermostat down to 10C. You won't die. Just use a hot water bottle to keep you warm.
And when you do eat, eat instant noodles with frozen veg and beans thrown in. Or tins of soup with frozen veg and beans thrown in.
And don't buy old sports or supercars.

TooGoodToGo can be ok. I once got over 20 pre-packaged sandwiches, they just emptied the fridge and gave me everything that was going out of date.
McDonald's coffee is pretty reasonable, even Greggs Latte's are less than half the price of Costa's version and almost as good.
If you do a significant mileage commuting and your salary is mid 60's and you have kids and you can charge at home then a cheaper SS EV will almost certainly pay for itself.

I did the same calculation 20 odd years ago. £1000 on sandwiches a year. Bloody hell, how much? Right, I'm making my own from now on. My tip. A week that idea lasted.

Back in the day I used to use cash draw out £100 and that had to last me the week for spends easier to budget when it’s in your pocket and you can see it going. This was the 1990’s.
It's making a comeback with some people.Anecdotal but not necessarily salary related but sometimes that and sometimes people unable to control or keep track of spending on cards/contactless.

I had the same realisation on a similar timeframe, but I stuck with it. I still make my own lunch at least half the times I go into the office.A week last idea lasted.
The other thing is the cheaper lunch options seem pretty awful compared to even a basic thing I make myself, and getting something decent quality in the city really costs.
