Just had a legit looking email claiming to be gov and my car tax couldn’t be paid due to problem with my details. As I just moved I clicked the link and was about to enter all of my details before I realised it was a very legit looking scam. It’s the best I’ve seen that doesn’t have any info on it apart from my email.

Close call.

What was the email address it came from -that's usually the first thing to look at on unsolicited emails.

There was a post on exactly this earlier this week. That one came from a reading.ac.uk. address.

The latest scam I just saw on the news is fake QR codes stuck onto pay and display machines in car parks. So easy to do.

Obviously the "reading " address would have nothing to do with car tax though.
That second scam is very sneaky though and as you say would catch a lot of people out as no clues whatsoever.

The email address was sec@grangeandbroughtygc.co.uk but it had a cover on it stating a .gov address.

I got this too. Very Sneaky and timely as i had just paid my car tax the week before. Lucky i asked the DVLA to text and email me a receipt confirming payment. I suggest everyone tick this option when taxing your vehicle.
