I'm not a muscular PH Director type but I am in the fortunate position that I have to self assess. I usually put any bonus (I appreciate the reader thinks I'm a muscular PH Director at this point) straight into my pension but I have to reduce it this year to avoid hitting the rolling three year limit (yep, muscular PH Director).

Is there any way to complete a dummy form so that I can optimise the relief and work out what % of the bonus to sacrifice.

Thanks

Muscular PH Director.

I just use a combination of salarycalculator and an xlsx to work it out.

As above, Salary Calculator simulates any number of salary sacrifice numbers for pension etc.

It’s interesting to see how much NI is saved as well as tax if you decide to put a little more into the pension.

Useful if you like me are PAYE also.

If you use TaxCalc it allows you many what if scenarios before you hit the button to submit to HMRC.

The TaxCalc whatif tool is pretty good, but you pay a little extra for it and there’s a fairly steep learning curve…
