Does buying car through company work for me?
Discussion
Hey All,
I'm looking to change out the car me and my wife share and just wondering if buying the new one through our company (limited & VAT registered) would be a good idea. Never had a company car or bought one through the business before and I'm being a bit of a div trying to understand it all with all the different tax and BIK etc. What will the company pay / claim back / save and what will I pay personally?
Options are, either buy through the company if it will provide decent savings, or buy it outright ourselves by trading in our current shared car (privately owned) and making up the difference with savings. Just thought it might be nice to take on the car through the company and free up some savings for some home improvements and holidays but don't want to if it is ultimately going to cost us a load more.
So couple of cars we are shortlisting are around £30k. will be second hand, 2022/23 models. List price was about £29-35k
Mileage will be about 5-8k per year. Will be used for SDP, commuting, visiting client sites and running errands for the business so only part of the milage will be claimed for and fuel will be paid for out of our money.
Can buy via finance or outright through the business.
Car will be petrol and emissions 200g/km or 169g/km
Both of us are basic tax rate payers.
Thanks for any help.
