If you are earning a bonus that gets you to above 100k will that mean I get put into the next bracket?

I'm thinking about recommending a wealthy mate puts a % into his pension to avoid going over.

Yes, bonuses are included in assessable pay.

Yes and you should (get him / them) professional advice but on the cheap here, why not put a % into a pension to be tax efficient ... assuming he/they have the relevant earnings.
